R Cedar’s snippers have cutting blades powered
by large hydraulic cylinders. These cutting blades cut the tree off right at the
ground. The grapples that are part of the snipper mechanism, help hold the tree
so that the complete tree can be carried to wherever it is to be piled.
When
snipping smaller trees, many times several trees can be cut in succession before
adding the group to the pile.
It is important to note that R Cedar
cuts the trees off within an inch or less of ground level. When
snipping Cedar, the tree will not regrow. The snipped tree will die
from the trunk down and will not reappear.
The downside of snipping is that
piles of cedar will remain. In some cases this may be beneficial.
These piles can be useful habitat for some birds. In other cases
follow-up mulching of the piles will serve to concentrate the mulch
in areas where mulch is desired.
